206 | The site of a three day attack by Zulus on the Voortrekkers’ laager (13-15 August 1838). The actual site is now beneath Wagendrift Dam. A Diorama explains battle and shows the Voortrekkers’ battle tactics.

From Estcourt, take the Wagendrift road and cross over the N3. Take the turn-off marked Moore Park/Blue Haze Country Lodge, and follow the dirt road until you reach Greystone resort. The monument is 700 meters from the entrance to Greystone, below the left side of the road.

One Review

  • This battle was fought in August 1838. Some 100 Voortrekkers held off a force of some 10,000 Zulu warriors. It was an incredible feat. This description needs to be modified.
